Do's and Don'ts:

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE- Stanislaus County Department of Environmental Resources will be on location to collect your household hazardous waste (15 gallons/125 pound limits). This includes the following items:

  • Used Oil/Oil Filters and Antifreeze
  • Herbicides
  • Aerosol Products
  • Car Batteries
  • Fertilizers
  • Roof Tar
  • Gasoline/Diesel Fuel

  • Pool/Spa Chemicals
  • Kerosene
  • Brake Fluid
  • Charcoal Lighter Fluid
  • Batteries (All Kinds)
  • Carburetor Cleaner
  • Paint/Paint Thinner
  • Mercury Thermometers/Thermostats 
  • Road Flares
  • Drain Cleaners
  • Propane Cylinders
  • Pesticides 


(5 gallons or less)

The following items CANNOT be accepted as household hazardous waste: empty containers, business waste, out-of-county waste, commercial AG chemicals, asbestos, radioactive materials, welding equipment, explosives, ammunition, dried paint containers and no bulbs of any kind.

Be safe with your waste: Label all materials.  Do not mix materials.  Keep all waste in original containers with lids on tight.  If a container is leaking, place in a sturdy plastic bag or bucket and label it.  Transport waste in the rear of your truck or trunk of your car.  Don’t leave your car with waste sitting in the sun and don’t leave it packed overnight.

ELECTRONIC WASTE RECYCLING- City of Patterson Staff will be on location to collect your used car and truck tires.

the Greater Valley Conservation Corps will be on site to collect your electronic waste. Essentially, items that run on batteries or plug into the wall. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Television (No Plasma)
  • iPods/DVD and CD Players
  • Computer Parts
  • Monitors
  • Fax Machines
  • Musical Equipment
  • Computers
  • Arcade Games
  • Medical Equipment (No Bio-Hazard
  • Laptops 
  • Cell Phones
  • Amps and Speakers
  • Printers
  • Stereo Equipment
  • Household Phones
  • MP3 Players
  • Digital Cameras
  • Network Equipment
  • Scanners
  • Video Cameras
  • Misc. Wires & Cords
  • Video Games
  • Power Tools

The following items CANNOT be accepted as electronic waste: Refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, floor model copy machines and no bulbs of any kind.

WASTE TIRE RECYCLING- City of Patterson Staff will be on location to collect your used car and truck tires.

  • Bring all your car and truck tires, regardless of condition
  • Open to all residents of Patterson
  • All tires received will be recycled
  • FREE OF CHARGE


Important note:

  • No tractor tires
  • No rims or wheels
  • No businesses
  • 9 tires maximum


This program is provided through a grant from CalRecycle.

MATTRESS COLLECTION- City of Patterson staff will be on site to collect your used mattresses. There is a 6 mattress/box spring maximum per household.

We are unable to accept:

  • Severely damaged, wet, twisted, frozen or soiled mattresses or box springs
  • Items infested with bed bugs
  • Mattress pads or toppers
  • Sleeping bags
  • Pillows
  • Car beds
  • Futons and furniture
  • Juvenile products such as carriages, baskets, bassinets, dressing tables, strollers, and playpens or their pads
  • Infant carriers, lounge pads, or crib bumpers
  • Water beds or camping-style air mattresses
  • Fold-out sofa beds

PAPER SHREDDING- Stericyle will be in location to collect and destroy your paper documents. They will provide the following:

  • On-site secure document destruction
  • 3 banker box maximum
  • All paper will be recycled

 The following items CANNOT be accepted:

  • No businesses
  • No binders (Staples, paper clips and rubber bands accepted)
