Streets and Collections Division is responsible for flood control and the storm drainage collection system; the sanitary sewer collection system; street sweeping, and the maintenance and repair of all City streets, sidewalks, curb & gutter, street lights, signal lights, and alleys. The attached street sweeping map shows which day each route/area is swept.  For residential areas, the street sweeper follows the day after the regular garbage collection. DAVID GONSALVES.JPG

Leading the Streets and Collections Division is Street Supervisor, David Gonsalves. There are currently 7 positons authorized in the Streets and Collections division. One of the challenges facing this division is to be in compliance with new sanitary sewer collection system regulations adopted by the State Water Quality Control Board.

Leaf Pick-Up Schedule for 2009-2010

The City of Patterson's Leaf Pickup Program is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 16, 2009 and continue through January 30, 2010 (the program’s approximate starting and ending dates may change depending on how the leaves fall).

The City is divided into 8 zones.  Leaves are collected according to the schedule. The City’s Street Division will be sweeping streets in conjunction with the leaf pick-up.  In order to keep the gutters free and clear for good drainage, please maximize the use of your 90 gallon green toter.  When it becomes full, rake leaves into a pile and place them 5 feet away from the curb.  Please do not place tree limbs in leaf piles.  To help avoid delays and for adequate leaf pickup, please do not park vehicles on street during your scheduled pickup day.  This will help insure easy access for the leaf collection equipment and street sweeper.

 Sanitary Sewer Lateral Maintenance

Did you know that the City of Patterson is responsible for maintaining each property’s sewer lateral from the sewer main to the property line? (The City will maintain the lateral only if there is a clean-out installed to the City Standards at property line). If there is no clean-out at property line, the property owner is responsible for sewer lateral maintenance. For more information about this program, contact us at 209-895-8060.

Streetlights

How do I report a streetlight that is out in my neighborhood? The majority of the streetlights are owned and maintained by the City of Patterson. If you have a light that is out in your neighborhood, please contact the Public Works Department at 895-8060 or submit a service request here.

When you call, please provide the following information:

  • Location of streetlight Pole number (this number can be found on the front of the pole).Streetlight1.JPG
  • Type of pole (metal or wood?) This will help us determine if it’s an older or newer streetlight.
  • How long has the problem been occurring?
  • What type of problem? Is it completely out, flickers, etc.?

Remember, streetlights provide light to your neighborhood so it’s important that they are taken care of and not vandalized. If you witness streetlight vandalism, please contact the police. We need to work together to help the Community be a “brighter” one for everybody!
