Start Smart Basketball
This program is developmentally appropriate introductory basketball program for children 3-5yrs old. The program prepares children for basketball in a fun; non threatening environment. Start Smart Basketball prepares children and their parents for organized basketball without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate equipment from Franklin Sports is used in teaching dribbling-ball handling, passing-catching, shooting and running-agility.

Start Smart Baseball 

This program is a developmentally appropriate introductory baseball program for children 3-5 years old. The program prepares children for organized tee-ball, baseball and softball in a fun; non-threatening  environment . Start Smart Baseball prepares children and their parents for organized baseball and softball without the threat of competition or the far of getting hurt. Age appropriate equipment from Franklin Sports is used in teaching throwing, catching, batting, running and agility.
Preschoolers, 3-5 years old, and their adult partners will have a wonderful baseball adventure, traveling between 5 different skill stations. Each of the stations will be coached by Recreation Sports Staff. the stations will include: catching, throwing, batting infield and outfield. The first 3 weeks of camp will focus on building skills and on the last day the kids will have a big game and receive their baseball certificate.

Patterson Youth Track & Field
Our program will introduce young athletes to track & field. This program combines technical development and fundamental techniques with safety and major focus on fun! Our exercises and drills will prepare athletes for a future track & field events; shot put, long jump, turbo javelin, 100m, 200m, etc. The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques are all covered in this unique program.

Start Smart Golf

This is a developmentally appropriate introductory golf program for children ages 3-5yrs old. The program teaches children proper golf skills in a fun; non-threatening environment. Start Smart Gold prepares children and their parents for on-course play without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate equipment from SNAG is used in teaching putting. chipping, pitching and the full swing.

Kidz Love Soccer

Since 1979, Kidz Love Soccer has been dedicated to teaching children the world’s most popular sport within a nurturing, recreational environment. A typical session experience includes age appropriate activities: skill demonstrations, fun games, and instructional scrimmages. Mommy/Daddy & Me soccer – (ages 2.0 – 3.5)
Introduce your toddler to the world’s most popular game! As you and your child participate in our fun age-appropriate activities, your child will be developing their large motor skills and socialization skills. The fun happens on the field so don’t just watch from the sidelines! 

Tot/Pre-soccer – (ages 3.5 – 5.0)
Little tykes will enjoy running and kicking just like the big kids! Teaches the basic techniques of the game and builds self esteem through participation and fun soccer activities. Children learn to follow instructions in a nurturing, age appropriate environment. Shin guards are required after the first meeting. 

Soccer 1 – (ages 5.0 – 6.9)
Players will learn dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, age-specific defense, etc. Fun skill games are played at every session, and every participant will have a ball at his or her feet. Small-sided soccer matches will be introduced gradually. Shin guards are required after the first meeting. 

Soccer 2: Skillz & Scrimmages – (ages 7.0 – 10.9)
Kidz 7-10 years of age will enjoy advanced skill building: dribbling, passing and shooting in a team play format. Each class will focus on scrimmages that emphasize application of finer technical points. All levels are welcome to come enjoy the world’s most popular game! Shin guards are required.

Junior Giants

Returning for its 5th season, Patterson Jr. Giants in the summer of 2018! Junior Giants is a FREE, non-competitive baseball league for boys and girls in grades Kinder - 8th. The program focuses on the fundamentals of baseball as well as leadership, teamwork, confidence, and integrity. For more information on Junior Giants visit

Coaches are needed! Players, team parents, and coaches interested register online beginning April 1st, 2018 or ask Jason Hayward at our Recreation Department! 

2018 Junior Giants League Information
  • ​2018 Registration will open on Sunday, April 1st, 2018. Registration is online only.
  • To participate all players must be 5 years by July 1, 2018.
  • Junior Giants baseball is an 8 week season.
  • League begins the week of June 11, 2018. There will be two weeks of practice only (one practice per week). Then followed by six weeks of one game, one practice per week.
  • League ends the week of July 30th.
  • The game schedule will be e-mailed out to all participants prior to the first week of play.
Days: Weekday evenings and Saturday games
Time: Evening games at 6pm and Saturday games begin at 8am
