Life Guard Academy

City of Patterson’s Life Guard Academy is a course that follows the American Red Cross life guarding curriculum. Participants ages 15 years+ will be provided with a Life Guard Manual, and a CPR training Mask. Successful completion of Life Guard Academy will result in participants obtaining First Aid, CPR & AED for the Professional Rescuer Certificates and Life Guarding Certificates.

PHours of Operation: Monday - Friday 9 am to 4 pm (excluding holidays and staff service days)

Campers will get the opportunity to receive training in a variety of different American Red Cross skills based on each week’s theme. Skills include: First Aid, Adult and Child CPR, and Basic Water Rescue. Sessions are led by Patterson Aquatic staff.

Participants need to bring the following: change of clothes, snack, lunch, sunscreen, swimsuit, towel, and water.

Each participant will be tested on the first day for the following prerequisites: swim 100 yards front crawl, retrieve a 10-pound brick from 7-feet of water, and tread water for one minute.

Program Information

Jr. Guard Camp is a fun, interactive, engaging summer camp that builds confidence, fitness, and self-esteem. For ages 11-14 of age to spend their Summer. Classes are designed to teach water safety, teamwork, CPR, and first aid in an exciting and interesting environment. Instructors are experienced lifeguards with a background in coaching. This program is physically challenging, mentally stimulating and it gives participants an idea of what it is to be a lifeguard. Upon completion of this camp, participants will be able to sign up for our Lifeguard Academy class for free if the age requirement is met! This is a great opportunity to prepare for a job as a lifeguard.
